Brice Laurent, the heart son
"I suddenly fall to the bottom of my sofa. I can find any sense”. Brice Laurent is an art director. He draws, writes and creates contents for companies, associations and projects in construction that make him tingle. “My job is quite special because, I realized that I would have no impact if I did not do it for people who have an impact”. A few months ago, in the winter of 2019/2020, he was at his worst : “I am satisfied with work, but in my personal life, there is still a void”. He is “depressed” by all the ordeals that he has experienced in the previous months and years and that he tells us in this episode.
Brice Laurent is not a volunteer, employee or a student of the Red Cross, but he is committed. He embodies the vulnerabilities and commitment that have been discussed in every episode of this podcast. We share his story with you because it is at the genesis of Sophie Bacquer’s reflection. She is the one who created the Clichés project which goes beyond a podcast is a European project on engagement and vulnerabilities. Then it was Brice Laurent who gave life to this project by creating its entire visual universe.
It is also this experience that allowed him to get out of his torport “we created the concept like this, through texts, phone calls, we agree so well on why we want to do this project. To change the idea we have of solidarity “oh, I give you ten cents” a little miserabilism. And then, lo and behold, we really want to give a dimension full of energy and possibilities around what is like to assist, to go back to action while we … felt incapable.” One of the primary ideas is to show that acting helps others but often saves oneself.
The life of Brice Laurent, the physical and psychological ordeals make it possible to highlight how, even when we told ourself “I am not a person, that’s it. I am 80% of a person” it is always possible to act.
